Got up and ran 2 miles this morning.  Getting back in the saddle boys....

07 September 2011

Back Again

Finally felt healed up enough on the ankle to run again yesterday. Ran one mile at 8:00 minute pace. I could tell last night that there was some soreness, but I iced it and it seems to be fine today. I'll run again tomorrow. Today, some resistance.

Have to try and keep the ankle healthy so I can get some continuity in training. It ain't long till the mudder gents, got to step our game up!

17 August 2011

Wednesday morning

Had a great run this morning after taking way too much time off. I actually ran pretty hard but definitely need to get back on track. How is everyone else doing?

26 July 2011

Nutrition

Guys - good run this am. Can't stress enough the importance of nutrition. Find out what what works for you and make sure you do it. It makes all the difference in the world, especially eating beforehand.

Good nutrition = top training levels and recuperation. In other words, if you don't eat well, you won't train to the best of your abilities, and it will take you longer to get back to top level!

Tomorrow is hill repeats behind the rec center at the lake. pretty tough, but short workout. Bring ya A game!

21 July 2011

Training.Bitches

Good run this AM. Rain was nice. Two days to recover now before Sunday's long run. RICE,RICE and RICE! Robby Wayne, yo ass better train this weekend! Remember, there is only this moment, and the next moment. Each of those is a test you only get to take once!

20 July 2011

Hill Repeats

Andy and I went to the Lake this AM and busted out some hill repeats behind the gym. Pretty hard work, but it pays bitches! Here's to Robby Wayne hoping yo calf gets better, remember RICE! Missed everyone else this AM. Hope to see ya'll tomorrow morning. 3 miles on the trail. Peace love and dope!

18 July 2011

High Tech Training

The Garmin deal is pretty cool. We had a good run yesterday at the Lake. Found out it is about 4 miles from trail head to truck. Good feeback as well. Today is stretch and strenghen day, run again tomorrow, 3 miles with speed intervals built in. Holla!

15 July 2011

Rest for the Weary

Today is a rest day. Take advantage. Tomorrow, cross training; and Sunday is long run of the week.

14 July 2011

Riverwalk running

Been running on the riverwalk this evening and twice a week for last few weeks. Pretty soon I'm gonna rename that shit the riverrun. I can almost run the whole thing!

12 July 2011

Intervals

Good run this AM gents! Ran 3 miles with 12 intervals built in. Terrific. Its so damn humid out right now. Good training weather though. Stay on the nutrition today! See ya'll next time!

07 July 2011

The Gang's All Here (Almost)

Craig, we missed you this AM man, wish you could have been there. It was really great to have Andy and Robby Wayne back this AM for a run around the lake. We have been putting in some good work man. Training and nutrition are paying off. The necessary recovery is well worth it.

We need to keep it up! Mudder is only 7 months away! Seems like a long time, but it will be here before we know it! I hope to see everyone on Saturday morning for another jaunt, maybe a little longer this time! Peace Out!

05 July 2011

Let the healing begin

back on the trail this morning for a 5 mile jaunt with Bob. Leg felt pretty good. some tightness afterwards, but I'm treating it. felt good to run it out. gotta start building on the distance now. 7 months till the mudder. step ya game up bitches! Holler

28 June 2011

Tuesday training

Had a great run on the river walk followed by a great fresh fruit protein shake. Ready for another group session.

21 June 2011

Sunrise Special

Great run this AM with Bob and Wayne. Glad to see you there Wayne! Keep it up! Just a few short months until we tame the beast that is called the Tough Mudder. We keep training like this and it doesn't stand a chance! Ole Bitch.

17 June 2011

February 11. It's going down. Get you damn mind right men.

Right as Rain

Ran the trail last night in my best time ever. My have pushed it a little much, as I feel some soreness in my ankle and calf this am, but not too bad. Pretty proud of it. I think the rain actually helped keep it cool, it wasn't near as hot. Nutrition helps the recovery, so concentrating on that now. Weekend coming up, we'll see what goes down! HOllER!

15 June 2011

Cuttin a Trail

Craig and I ran the trail at the lake last night. Went pretty well. My wind is improving greatly. The heat and humidity does sap it out of you though. training in this environment should have us ready come february. Peace Out!

13 June 2011

Smash and Grab

Smash = Workout, Grab = Protein. Went to the gym today, did three resistance sets with pullups dips push ups and shoulders. Then dis two ab circuits followed by 10 minute cool down. I felt fresh! Good workout, then I grabbed a protein drink and some raisins. Going to bible study where I will have venison tacos and camaraderie. The nutrition plan is paying dividends. I feel much better, not to mention stronger and leaning up too. Good stuff man. Holler!

Keep it Rollin'

Last week was somewhat of a slack off with only three workouts mixed in with vacation. I did ride the trail at the lake on Saturday and it was hot! Kept with the nutrition pretty much all week though, with a couple of cheat meals that weren't too bad. Looking forward to getting back in with the gang and training!

05 June 2011

I'll be ready....(I'll be ready!)

Bob and I had a great run on the beach this morning. Feet, ankles, and calves are talking to me. Endurance is getting better!

01 June 2011

Hades

Hot man. It was hot yesterday evening. Trail run went good, good intervals. Sweated profusely though. Pounded water and protein last night and again this am. Might have to start later and take advantage of lower temps.

25 May 2011

Running Man

I love trail running. Me, Bob and Andy Wayne hit the Opposum Trail at Lake Lowndes again yesterday and it was awesome. Legs tired today, but well worth it. Can't wait till Thursday to see what the training gods have in store for us.

20 May 2011

Training and Nutrition= WINNING

Ran the nature trail again yesterday in 1:01.40.  Was gassed last night and I am going to be sore today.  It's all worth it though because I woke up this morning and weighed 3.5 pounds less than I did on Saturday!!!!

18 May 2011

You and Me go Running in the Dark

Nothing like a little jaunt on the nature trail for training.  Looking forward to Craig moving back into this area so we can step it up even more

16 May 2011

New Recipe

If you were to take trail hiking, a treadmill, some sweat, great weather and a little ice, and throw them in my Ninja blender, you would get a cool creamy and smooth concoction equal to what I did yesterday. Ran/walked the nature trail at the Lake with my hound, and it was terrific. I mostly ran the uphill/downhill sections and interspersed it with walking. I do have some soreness in my right knee, but that it probably due to the fact i did this in my hiking shoes. They are more like sneakers than boots, but I am going to get some trail specific tenni's.

The Paleo deal is working out great too. I can actually tell I feel better. Working it son, working it.

We plan to run the trail again tomorrow evening, can't wait.

15 May 2011

Going the distance

Great run this afternoon. Walked a mile, ran two miles, walked a mile. Did it in about 45 minutes. The time was not as important to me as the distance. Did it outside because it was such a nice day. Results are starting to happen!

11 May 2011

The tuff get going

Walked the hood last night with the wife and hound. About 1.5 miles worth. Barefoot. Awesome. Got to get back serious tonight after about a week off really. so if you are looking for me, look for the guy who is training bitches.

09 May 2011

Back Again

Have had trouble getting on the blog lately.  Kinda like my training.  But will be resumed this week.  And that, dear sirs, is a promise.

03 May 2011

Shout out to SEAL Team Six. Training pays off.

02 May 2011

Training - Unorthadox

Helped out some friends of mine in Montpelier yesterday. They had a good bit of damage from the tornado. Put on tarps, picked up debris and ran a chainsaw all damn day. Did some work. I am severely fatigued today. Glad to be able to help out and blessed that we didn't have the damage they did.

29 April 2011

Climbing the Mountain

Ran bleachers at the Magnolia bowl with Bob and Andy last night. 10 sets interspersed with 10 pushups. My chest is getting stronger, I can tell. Legs were a little shaky at the end, and are tired today, but a good workout. This will get us ready for the hill climbs at the mudder! Going to help out with storm victims this weekend, so probably no training.

27 April 2011

Bert the conquerer

Just saw B.T.C. do the tough mudder. It will definitely be hard but I am certain that we kick that race's ass as a team. There was a mystery obstacle at the end which was basically a live electrical wire gauntlet. My training is definitely heading in the right direction and I hope yalls is too.

25 April 2011

Great show on the Travel Channel last night on the Mudder. Pumped up now.

21 April 2011

Riding the Storm Out

Had some bad weather last night, but Bob and I were able to get in a workout just prior to the tornado warnings and supposed "hen egg" size hail. Did a good chest workout and then some pullups, dips, curls and abs. I feel awesome. Saw where only 77% finished the last Tough Mudder in PA. I do not intend on failing. Check out the video on you tube.

18 April 2011

Where is Wayne?

Wayne, where are you??????????????????????????????

So' Ass

My ass is a little sore from the bike ride yesterday, but it was a good time. I've not posted in a while, been pretty busy with the job. Training is getting along famously; I thoroughly enjoyed the 300 workout. Awesomeness! My body is getting harder, and my mindset for life has evolved. Training is a large part of my focus. Need to come up with something even better for Saturday. I'm out for Tuesday night, have to support the wife at a school function. I am gonna try to catch the gym afterwards. HOLLA

Team Training

Had a GREAT workout on Saturday.  Did a "300 set."  Combined pull-ups, push-ups, tire flips, and the sledgehammer for 300 reps as fast as you could.  Ran some sprints after that.  Justin and I rode our bikes around the Nature Trail at the lake yesterday afternoon.  Tough, fun, and muddy as hell in spots.  Cannot wait until the next time.  May make the biking thing a normal event.

Word to your mother-
Bob

Sore muscles

Great time training this past Saturday. Wish I could make them all.

13 April 2011

Pushing Through

Gotta push through tough times.  Training this weekend!  Yes yes y'all

04 April 2011

Training

Good team training on Saturday.  Hate that everyone could not make it.  You missed a good time and a great workout.  Step your game up son!

Also, there is a show on the Travel Channel called "Bert the Conqueror."  One of the episodes this season, he attempts the Tough Mudder.  We need to try to catch this for sure.

03 April 2011

Great workout

Really enjoyed the team workout yesterday. I can feel it today. I wish I could make it every week. You guys definitely do work.

27 March 2011

Anticipation

I'm getting my game face ready for next Saturday. Can't wait to train with my bros.

Barefoot Bliss

Yesterday, we hit up the practice field for some good training.  Sprints, tire flips, suicides. sledgehammer work... Get it son!

23 March 2011

Team Training

Justin, Andy and I hit the fieldhouse last night for a little strength training.  Pull-ups, bench, push-ups, dips, curls, abs, shoulders... Basically everything from the waist up got a little taste... Back to the grind today...

22 March 2011

Master of stairs

Stairmaster.......38 minutes.........850 calories........246 floors...........3624 steps.....work.

21 March 2011

Good healthy meal

Try this:
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp veg oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp dried rosemary
1/4 tsp each salt & pepper
1.5-2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast
Marinate 3-4 hours
Grill
Goes real well with sweet potatoes and green beans. High in protein and fiber.

18 March 2011

Tired Legs

Did pretty good in the gym this week.  Yesterday, I walked 3 miles on the treadmill and ran 1 (burned approx. 1100 calories).  I got the bright idea to try to push-mow my front yard (fail).  Then, Justin and I wrked out last night.  Today, my legs let me know that they are tired.  Gym time was ok at best but it was better than nothing...

Do work son.

17 March 2011

The benefits of strength training

For the last month or two, I have had a very stiff and sore neck for some unknown reason. Since starting back in the gym, all stiffness and soreness has dissipated. Plus I feel more alert and awake during the day. Only negative, I spend all day at work thinking about working out. Oh well.

Training Son

Just a little mid-week motivation...

The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary!

Train like HELL men

15 March 2011

A case of the Mondays...

Last night's workout was ok. Did mostly chest and back stuff. Got real gassed about halfway through but regained my composure while I was doing my cardio at the end. I guess they can't all be super great workouts when you're just getting started. This will bemy first full week of training so I know that I have nowhere to go but up.

Also have discovered greek yogurt. Doesn't have any fat. Light on carbs HIGH in protein. Doesn't taste too bad either. I recommend it.
Keep up the hard work dudes!!

14 March 2011

Good Way to Start the Week- Bob

Hit the gym up mid-morning (one of the perks of Spring Break).  Did a 3 minute warmup on the elliptical.  Alternated 30 seconds of sprinting with 1 minute of rest (walking) for 30 minutes.  Did 3 x 10 pullups, 3 x 15 pushups and 2 x 10 decline pushups.  Was gassed.  Felt at the end as if I may vomit.  What a workout.

Awesomeness

Saturday was pure awesomeness. I am sore as hell this morning, but it feels good. Will continue tonight with some cardio. Can't wait till next Saturday: Barefoot Mudder Training, Episode 2.

12 March 2011

Training....Tough Mudder Style

The training has seriously begun. Today, Justin, Andy, and I did work. We started off with active stretching. Next up: 5- 40 yard tire pulls followed by 10- 20 yard tire pulls. Then, we flipped a tractor tire. Then, we did some hammer training (beat a tire with a 12lb sledge). We finished the day off with sprints. All of these events were performed with no shoes! What a day!!!

Row, row, row your boat...

Got on the rowing machine after my strength training this morning. Awesome full body cardio. Will definitely do again.

11 March 2011

1st post

hello gents,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get on here. I have not been training this week. Went to Chiropractor yesterday to get adjusted. My spine from tail bone to chest is curved like an S. It curves from left to right instead of front to back. The neck portion is not much better it curves back instead of forward hence all the headaches. Doc says he can fix problems and they are nothing major. I asked if it was ok to jump off of 12 ft concrete walls, to which he replied "why would you want to do that?" I will be out of the gym this coming week but will be working cardio while skiing, strengthening the lungs in that high altitude.

I am seriously thinking about getting a weighted vest to run with and gradually increase the weight to help with my cardio.

First Week Struggles

I have got to come up with a quick workout plan.  My workouts have been interrupted with life this week (church on Wednesday and picking up Peyton yesterday and today).  I know that some working out is better than none but my efforts are lacking right now.  I am looking forward to tomorrow... Beast Day.  Mark down April 2 (a Saturday) for a group workout.

We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, therefore, is not a single act but a habit.

Yes, Yes, Ya'll

Got back at it last night. Did some running intervals and then strength training. My abs are sore as hell. Ready for tomorrow. Gonna demolish a damn tire.

Pain is temporary

Soreness kicked in this morning. But that just means that I am on the right path. Don't know for certain if I'll make it to the gym tonight but if I don't I will get up bright and early and hit it hard.

"We punish ourselves so that we can punish our oponents." -Tito Ortiz. In this case, our oponent is the tough mudder. Let's kick the shit out of it!

10 March 2011

Back At It

I intend to resume training this evening. Probably will hit up some cardio tonight to get back in the swing, then start tomorrow with resistance. I hope to hit it hard on Saturday. We should beat the shit out of a tire.

Bob's First Day Back

Did a little cardio warm-up on the stairclimber.  Hit the legs with some good bodyweight exercises.  Finished with some light cardio on the treadmill.  Feel like I have a long way to go.  Short-term goal is to lose 20 lbs by the time I hit Gulf Shores in June.  Long-term?  Increased functional strength, endurance, and health.

Also, I have not been able to comment on posts.  Anything I am missing?

09 March 2011

Back to work

First day back at the gym. Did some good work but I have a long road ahead of me. I find encouragement in knowing that I will have to work my ass off, the long term rewards will be far greater than the short term pain.

Check
In looking for the next challenge, I have discovered the Tough Mudder.  My buddies and I decided to train like hell and complete this "race."  I use quotation marks because it is an untimed event.  Finishing is the goal.  My plans for this blog are to track our training, successes, and struggles.  Let's get it!

Go hard or go home.... YOUR CHOICE!
