My buddies and I are preparing to tackle the GORUCK Challenge. This is a way to keep up with training and hold each other accountable.

Wednesday morning
Had a great run this morning after taking way too much time off. I actually ran pretty hard but definitely need to get back on track. How is everyone else doing?

Nutrition
Good nutrition = top training levels and recuperation. In other words, if you don't eat well, you won't train to the best of your abilities, and it will take you longer to get back to top level!
Tomorrow is hill repeats behind the rec center at the lake. pretty tough, but short workout. Bring ya A game!

Going the distance
Great run this afternoon. Walked a mile, ran two miles, walked a mile. Did it in about 45 minutes. The time was not as important to me as the distance. Did it outside because it was such a nice day. Results are starting to happen!

Bert the conquerer
Just saw B.T.C. do the tough mudder. It will definitely be hard but I am certain that we kick that race's ass as a team. There was a mystery obstacle at the end which was basically a live electrical wire gauntlet. My training is definitely heading in the right direction and I hope yalls is too.

Good healthy meal
Try this:
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp veg oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp dried rosemary
1/4 tsp each salt & pepper
1.5-2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast
Marinate 3-4 hours
Grill
Goes real well with sweet potatoes and green beans. High in protein and fiber.

The benefits of strength training
For the last month or two, I have had a very stiff and sore neck for some unknown reason. Since starting back in the gym, all stiffness and soreness has dissipated. Plus I feel more alert and awake during the day. Only negative, I spend all day at work thinking about working out. Oh well.

A case of the Mondays...
Last night's workout was ok. Did mostly chest and back stuff. Got real gassed about halfway through but regained my composure while I was doing my cardio at the end. I guess they can't all be super great workouts when you're just getting started. This will bemy first full week of training so I know that I have nowhere to go but up.
Also have discovered greek yogurt. Doesn't have any fat. Light on carbs HIGH in protein. Doesn't taste too bad either. I recommend it.
Keep up the hard work dudes!!

1st post
Sorry it's taken me so long to get on here. I have not been training this week. Went to Chiropractor yesterday to get adjusted. My spine from tail bone to chest is curved like an S. It curves from left to right instead of front to back. The neck portion is not much better it curves back instead of forward hence all the headaches. Doc says he can fix problems and they are nothing major. I asked if it was ok to jump off of 12 ft concrete walls, to which he replied "why would you want to do that?" I will be out of the gym this coming week but will be working cardio while skiing, strengthening the lungs in that high altitude.
I am seriously thinking about getting a weighted vest to run with and gradually increase the weight to help with my cardio.
First Week Struggles
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not a single act but a habit.

Pain is temporary
Soreness kicked in this morning. But that just means that I am on the right path. Don't know for certain if I'll make it to the gym tonight but if I don't I will get up bright and early and hit it hard.

Back to work
First day back at the gym. Did some good work but I have a long road ahead of me. I find encouragement in knowing that I will have to work my ass off, the long term rewards will be far greater than the short term pain.

Check
In looking for the next challenge, I have discovered the Tough Mudder. My buddies and I decided to train like hell and complete this "race." I use quotation marks because it is an untimed event. Finishing is the goal. My plans for this blog are to track our training, successes, and struggles. Let's get it!
