Team Training

Justin, Andy and I hit the fieldhouse last night for a little strength training.  Pull-ups, bench, push-ups, dips, curls, abs, shoulders... Basically everything from the waist up got a little taste... Back to the grind today...

1 tbsp veg oil
1 tbsp minced garlic

Tired Legs

Did pretty good in the gym this week.  Yesterday, I walked 3 miles on the treadmill and ran 1 (burned approx. 1100 calories).  I got the bright idea to try to push-mow my front yard (fail).  Then, Justin and I wrked out last night.  Today, my legs let me know that they are tired.  Gym time was ok at best but it was better than nothing...

Do work son.

The benefits of strength training

For the last month or two, I have had a very stiff and sore neck for some unknown reason. Since starting back in the gym, all stiffness and soreness has dissipated. Plus I feel more alert and awake during the day. Only negative, I spend all day at work thinking about working out. Oh well.

A case of the Mondays...

Last night's workout was ok. Did mostly chest and back stuff. Got real gassed about halfway through but regained my composure while I was doing my cardio at the end. I guess they can't all be super great workouts when you're just getting started. This will bemy first full week of training so I know that I have nowhere to go but up.

Also have discovered greek yogurt. Doesn't have any fat. Light on carbs HIGH in protein. Doesn't taste too bad either. I recommend it.
Keep up the hard work dudes!!

Good Way to Start the Week- Bob

Hit the gym up mid-morning (one of the perks of Spring Break).  Did a 3 minute warmup on the elliptical.  Alternated 30 seconds of sprinting with 1 minute of rest (walking) for 30 minutes.  Did 3 x 10 pullups, 3 x 15 pushups and 2 x 10 decline pushups.  Was gassed.  Felt at the end as if I may vomit.  What a workout.

Awesomeness

Saturday was pure awesomeness. I am sore as hell this morning, but it feels good. Will continue tonight with some cardio. Can't wait till next Saturday: Barefoot Mudder Training, Episode 2.

Training....Tough Mudder Style

The training has seriously begun. Today, Justin, Andy, and I did work. We started off with active stretching. Next up: 5- 40 yard tire pulls followed by 10- 20 yard tire pulls. Then, we flipped a tractor tire. Then, we did some hammer training (beat a tire with a 12lb sledge). We finished the day off with sprints. All of these events were performed with no shoes! What a day!!!

Row, row, row your boat...

Got on the rowing machine after my strength training this morning. Awesome full body cardio. Will definitely do again.

1st post

hello gents,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get on here. I have not been training this week. Went to Chiropractor yesterday to get adjusted. My spine from tail bone to chest is curved like an S. It curves from left to right instead of front to back. The neck portion is not much better it curves back instead of forward hence all the headaches. Doc says he can fix problems and they are nothing major. I asked if it was ok to jump off of 12 ft concrete walls, to which he replied "why would you want to do that?" I will be out of the gym this coming week but will be working cardio while skiing, strengthening the lungs in that high altitude.

I am seriously thinking about getting a weighted vest to run with and gradually increase the weight to help with my cardio.

First Week Struggles

I have got to come up with a quick workout plan.  My workouts have been interrupted with life this week (church on Wednesday and picking up Peyton yesterday and today).  I know that some working out is better than none but my efforts are lacking right now.  I am looking forward to tomorrow... Beast Day.  Mark down April 2 (a Saturday) for a group workout.

We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, therefore, is not a single act but a habit.

Yes, Yes, Ya'll

Got back at it last night. Did some running intervals and then strength training. My abs are sore as hell. Ready for tomorrow. Gonna demolish a damn tire.

Pain is temporary

Soreness kicked in this morning. But that just means that I am on the right path. Don't know for certain if I'll make it to the gym tonight but if I don't I will get up bright and early and hit it hard.

Back At It

I intend to resume training this evening. Probably will hit up some cardio tonight to get back in the swing, then start tomorrow with resistance. I hope to hit it hard on Saturday. We should beat the shit out of a tire.

Bob's First Day Back

Did a little cardio warm-up on the stairclimber.  Hit the legs with some good bodyweight exercises.  Finished with some light cardio on the treadmill.  Feel like I have a long way to go.  Short-term goal is to lose 20 lbs by the time I hit Gulf Shores in June.  Long-term?  Increased functional strength, endurance, and health.

Also, I have not been able to comment on posts.  Anything I am missing?

Back to work

First day back at the gym. Did some good work but I have a long road ahead of me. I find encouragement in knowing that I will have to work my ass off, the long term rewards will be far greater than the short term pain.

In looking for the next challenge, I have discovered the Tough Mudder.  My buddies and I decided to train like hell and complete this "race."  I use quotation marks because it is an untimed event.  Finishing is the goal.  My plans for this blog are to track our training, successes, and struggles.  Let's get it!
